Update from a country hick at heart.

So take your pick, A castle in Vienna listening to Beethoven while you dine on fine Austrian cuisine outside on the deck overlooking a beautifully manicured garden

First Lady_a royal wave

or a tent at 2000m in the Swiss alps munching on a muesli bar as you listen to the birds feeding their young in the nest overriding the baritone of the waterfall 30m away.

There is no competition. The tent wins hands down.

We have been traveling a lot of kms in the last 4 days. More than what both of us would like but with the rest of the month sort-of mapped out there seems a sense of urgency to taste little bits of a lot rather than savoring a lot of a little. Crazy we feel we are running out of time for our random wanderings..

The last time I seriously update this blog I was perfecting my tan on the island of Hvar of the Croatian coast. Now we are Switzerland surrounded by mountains and cold steams considering our fitness or lack thereof and wondering if we go round the mount or up it. Unfortunately this Mount is not Mt Maunganui back in NZ.

On a whim Bronni decided she needed some culture and so we headed through Slovenia to Vienna. I wanted to look through a concentration camp which then brought has back to  Mauthausen and then we have driven right across Austria and down into the Swiss alps near the Val d,Herens region.
Our intention is to stop for 3 days, read some books, climb some hills (small ones) and Bronni to practice her French and guitar.

Update

It is 7.00am .The temperature is 3oC expect to rise to 27oC. We have a clear sky, the glaciers are awash with sun light and.it will be in the valley in a hour.  Action time.
