Yorkshire _Initial Impressions

Our Yorkshire home
Grey ,grey, grey is what immediately come to my mind.
Grey skies
Grey stone fences
Grey stone houses
Grey slate roofs
The roads are grey cobble stones
The water reservoir reflects a grey light

……..leaving my first impressions at this moment as grey.
Like the color itself as a state between white or black I remain unsure whether I like it or hate it.

Martin and Verity (Bronni’s sister) have found us this cute house in Oxenhope some 2 mile out of Howarth overlooking a water reservoir, old mills, farmland and the moors. It is furnished and very nice after been on the road for 3 months to just play house.

Wait I need to revise my initial comments. The sun is shinning. Quick I must take a pic because I’m told this is rare. Looking out the window the grass is lush and green, the flowers are blooming, the animals fat, the spring lambs are bouncing around the fields and the farmers are dragging out the hay making equipment. Nothing is grey and we see a rich blend of old architecture, chimney stacks from past wool mills and the moor's beckoning in the back ground. This is why our ancestors all get emotional about mother England.
……and the clouds come back. Everything is grey again and you are reminded this is why they left.

Actually I’m a bit tough on Yorkshire. We've been here now 2 days and both days we have been outdoors most of the day and haven’t got wet. Sure it’s not exactly Croatia 37oC stuff but we got a sweat up when Martin andnVerity took us tramping up Malham cove and again today we went biking across to Keighley.
We are mobile again with 2 bikes and while England may not have any mountains it is definitely not flat. In fact, around here little is flat. It’s either going up or down so we are hoping to get fit for our bike ride later next month in south France.

I’m amazed how the weather and “people experiences” significantly influences our impression of a place. 12 years ago we were in Frankfurt on a wet cold grey autumn day and after been grumped at by a German for sitting in the wrong seat we gave the city a score of 0 as the place to go.
This time there was Stephan, Eva and Lilly to show us Frankfurt’s best and the weather complimented the company. Score has to be 8+.

Yorkshire is definitely looking good.
100% fine days
M and V spoiling us with this house, nice cuisine and outdoor ventures

Update to follow.
