A new chapter-Spain

Sitting at the lounge in the Auckland airport I spied a plane pusher charging backwards across the tarmac.
…. yes backward and feel I should metaphorically do the same for my readers to catchup with our lives as I revive this blog.
To continue a blog after a 4 year gap without comment almost implies either you have done time in some penal institution or your life is just so sad and boring that it doesn’t warrant a comment.

It’s a bit like a CV with gaps between years…….. As a reader you get curious and begin to assume that the years not written about more reflect the true person than those polished in print to impress.

…….and this is true for ourselves readers although we haven’t done time and neither are our lives boring.

It just that the daily norms doesn’t make interesting press. The challenges of juggling a limited health budget with an ever increasing aging population or the excitement of marketing a new mini pittosporum that easily prunes into any shape you desire, may push our buttons but probably not yours; unless you’re a sick puppy wanting to sculpture a new friend in the garden to talk to.
So we write about the adventures that are a little different.

This time we are off to Spain to see Isaac and explore the country by bike. Bronni , now 10kg lighter & bike fit had this crazy idea to ride off road across the country but after I looked at some of the recommended tracks we were going to be climbing a bit of domestic negotiation was required.
Example; Day 1-80km &1600m elevation, Day 2-64km &1200m elevation, Day 3 a gentle day 75km &900m. etc. Putting this in context we usually ride to the Mt Maunganui and back most fine Saturday morning for a cup of coffee; thinking we have done well. The round trip 62km & 350m elevation.
The compromise was to also hire a car to drive the big grinds and explore the villages and regions on short 1-2 day bike rides.
So after saying adios to Kate(She leaves for England before we get back) and the other characters of joyce rd  and with bikes stowed in bike bags (leaving 10kg for everything else) it’s the long grind of Auckland, Brisbane, Dubai, Barcelona.

Here’s hoping we don’t get robbed again……………..
