Biking off road here can be quite different. Most of the land has very little commercial value and consists of rocks and low scrub. There doesn't seem to be any obvious ownership and the most prevalent sign of human habitation is litter and a maze of rough tracks. So we headed out this morning for Mojacar via Turree (some 6-8 km away). Instead of taking the road we marked Turree onto Google maps and literally starting following the tracks that seem to most likely go in the direction we wanted to go. Past some villas, down along a creek bed we went. After grinding over a saddle we zip thru an old olive orchard, past some ruins, to encounter an old fiat putting up the hill with an ancient driver barely able to see above the dash. Then its back into another dry creek bed as we wave to the sole herdsman with his 50 goats......and so the journey continues until we pop out onto the road a mere 100m from the Turree village.

Mojacar is quite different. There is the "old" part (dating back 2000BC) which is a popular tourist attraction and the new area on the coast filled apartments. (most of them empty) It is obviously is a popular summer destination.
A good 65km ride most off road.
